Synopsis/Description: Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.
But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him.
First line of Book:Like most people who own their own businesses, I work long hours that start early in the morning.
Review:Briggs did it again. Really, I already love this series!
The story was never boring, the characters were realistic and it had action and humour and romance and I loved it!
We get to know Stefan better, and the vampire society too, and let me tell you, I really, really like Stefan. Sure, he's a vampire but he's still sweet and as humane as possible.
The villain was very interesting too. I'd never thought of sorcery as demon possession, but it is kind of right, I guess. The fact that he was not only a sorcerer, but also a vampire was also really cool.
Anyway, this is a great book, as good as the first, and Mercy still totally kicks butt. I'm just sayin'.
Now seriously.
Read it.
Read the darn book.

Quotes from book:
"Never trust a mechanic who drives new cars. They're either charging too much money for their work, or they can't keep an old car running - maybe both."

"Damn it" I said "I don't suppose you have any ideas on how to kill Littleton" He smiled at me, his teeth very white in the darkness of his face "Eat him" he said."
"Now, I'm not very vain. If I'd ever been, making my living covered in various grease and dirt mixtures would have cured me quickly. Still, I wasn't up to facing two sexy men when I had one eye swollen mostly shut and half of my face black and blue."

I love Stefan! He seriously made me laugh so hard. I am definitely in love with Adam by the way. Oh, and I think the series gets better in book 3. Totally crazy though!
